Our Really Cool Board Games!

Our class split into partners and created original board games! We came up with the board design, rules, card, EVERYTHING! We are all excited to finish the games so we can play them and see how all our hard work paid off. Some groups have used a famous board game they know for inspiration. It has been a fun project, we will ALL do GREAT! Oh, another thing, everyone has connected their board game to a natural disaster of some sort! LET'S HAVE SOME FUN! - Asiya

Board games can be learning experience or played for fun. In some board games you have to think of what to do carefully. In our class we made groups and our own board games of natural disaster. It's going to a great learning experience. - Yash

I like board games for solving questions and playing through difficult decisions. At first I didn't know how to make a board game however, my partners taught me how to make a board game of our own. Together with my partners we made a natural disaster board game. In these board games we included informations about natural disaster. - Ali

I used earthquake for my natural disaster. Me and Noor took the idea of our board game from a game called Candy. We added cards with questions that relate to natural disaster. I think the board game is going to be fun with challenging questions. - Nana

It was really fun making a board game about volcanoes out of clay. I think people would like my board game because it is really fun and when they get to the end the volcano, it explodes. The volcano board game connects to natural disaster as volcano eruption is a type of a devastating natural disaster. - Ben

We comment on each other's posts to give feedbacks on different opinions to interact globally with other people. We Skype book clubs of other countries to hear their thoughts on given book, listening to individual's ideas and thus providing ourselves with different perspectives. Science
Last week we started our science unit. And yesterday got our science partners. We like to do the experiments. Our favorite experiment was the one ware we but baking soda and vinegar inside a bottle and then the blown blue up. In this experiment we got to use safety googles for the first time. We were exploring the chemical reaction of backing soda and vinegar. There was a chemical change and we know that because the subsets of baking soda and vinegar let of gas, the reason we know a chemical change occurred because we watched a video of chemical and physical changes. We had a lot of fun doing other experiments to but this was our favorite one.

Time For Kids has named Malala Yousafzai "Person of the Year" for 2015. This quote really shows the change that she has experienced. If you could ask Malala one question, what would it be? Also, why do you think Malala is a good choice for Person of the Year?

“They thought that the bullets would silence us,” she said. “And then, out of that silence came thousands of voices. . . . Weakness, fear, and hopelessness died. Strength, power, and courage [were] born.” Malala Yousafzai

I started a newspaper called G.I.F.Y. Myths and Legends because I like writing, and it is one of my hobbies. I also thought it was cool to start a newspaper for my grade. I liked the idea and I started my newspaper. Now it prints every Thursday or the day before a holiday or weekend. I didn't think so many people would like to read my newspaper at first, but then I realised that  people would want to do something other than play because so many people sit around and do nothing at recess. I used to use the 4th grade printer to print all the copies, but then my teacher, Ms. Corbin, told me that she will copy the copies if I giver her one printout. So I decided that even the3rd graders would get it. So, this newspaper is still printing.
